The Red Balloon

Read the story TWICE, marking it up the second time.  Write two complex questions and answer them at the bottom of your paper.  Answer TWO of the questions below, making sure you show where you're getting your evidence from.
1.      Why is Pascal’s only friend the red balloon?

2.      Does Pascal have more worry than pleasure from his balloon? Why?

3.      Why do all the captive balloons in Paris revolt and take Pascal on a trip around the world?

4.      Why does the balloon die trying to help Pascal?

5.      Why isn’t the balloon given a name in the story?

6.      Why are we told that Pascal  was sad and lonely before he found the balloon?

7.      Why does the balloon try to follow the children into the classroom?

8.      Why is the balloon able to outsmart the principal?

9.      Why does the balloon often disobey Pascal?

10.  Why do we see Pascal and the balloon getting away from the gang once, but not twice?

11.  Why are we told that everyone in the neighborhood thinks Pascal stole the balloon from the gang?

12.  Why does the author have adults and children threaten Pascal’s friendship with the balloon?
