1. From this story, what lesson can be learned
about the value of work? Use RARE to answer the question.
2. In the story it said that Little Red Hen was “Still
confident that they would surely help her some day…” But then a few lines later
it says, “Feeling that she might have known all the time that she would have to
do it all herself…” Why did Little Red Hen continue to ask who would help her
after it was clear that the others would not help? Use RARE to answer the
question. Your examples that prove your point must come from the story.
3. Let’s say that after returning with the wheat,
and before making the bread, Little Red Hen realized Pig, Cat and Rat were not
going to want to help. However, living close by was one Tom Sawyer, about whom
she heard of his whitewashing success. She went to Tom and asked what his
secret was for getting people to work for him. Tom gave his advice. Little Red
Hen returned to the farmyard and used Tom’s. Write the dialog between Little
Red Hen, Pig, Cat and Rat.
