The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will elect a team captain, who will represent them in the debate.
There will be 4 jurors who will make the final decision on who wins the debates. Anyone who is interested in being a team captain or one of the jurors will put their name on the board, and the class will vote.
ROUNDS:
Round 1: Position presentation (pro then con)
5 minute work period
Round 2: Rebuttal (pro then con)
3 minute work period
Round 3: Response (pro then con)
1 minute work period
Round 4: Position summary (pro then con)
Tally the votes. Students not participating get to cast their votes, teacher gets to cast her vote, and jurors get to cast their votes. Student's votes are worth 1, Teacher's vote is worth 5 votes, and juror's votes are each worth 3.
